PosePal — Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

PosePal is developed by Vipul Gote. Contact: via the PosePal GitHub repository. This policy covers the PosePal Android app (package com.posepal.pose_pal).

2. Data processed on your device (never uploaded)

• Camera frames & body landmarks. The live preview is analysed on-device (Google ML Kit pose detection, 33 landmarks; selfie segmentation for outlines). Landmarks exist only in memory per frame and are discarded; they are never sent anywhere.
• Photos you capture. Saved as JPEG + metadata sidecar in the app-private directory, and mirrored once to the public album Pictures/PosePal so captures survive an uninstall. On a fresh install the app re-imports that album (newest first); photos you deleted in-app are remembered (tombstones) and never come back.
• Custom reference poses you import. Stored in the app-private custom_poses/ directory only. Never mirrored, never uploaded, deleted with the app.
• Preferences. Settings, favourite poses, per-device camera calibration (keyed by non-unique device model, e.g. “Pixel 8” — not an identifier), and scene suggestions. Stored in on-device preferences; preferences (not photos) roam via Android Auto Backup.

3. The one network use

ML Kit pose-detection models download once through Google Play Services on first use (internet required once) — the ML Kit library declares internet access solely for this download. After that the app works fully offline. No PosePal code makes network requests.

4. Sharing — only when you tap Share

Photos leave the device only through the Android system share sheet you explicitly invoke (e.g. Share in the photo viewer, or exporting an evaluation CSV from a test lab). PosePal shares nothing silently and has no SDKs that transmit data.

5. What we do NOT collect

No account or login. No name, email, contacts, or messages. No location (scene matching uses on-device brightness/colour heuristics, never GPS). No microphone or audio recording (the app is photo-only). No advertising ID or device identifiers. No analytics, crash reporting, or advertising SDKs.

6. Retention and deletion

• In-app delete removes the local photo and its metadata immediately; custom-pose delete removes the image, thumbnail, and record.
• The Pictures/PosePal album copy is intentionally kept (uninstall survival) — delete it from your system gallery to remove it.
• Clearing app data or uninstalling removes everything except the Pictures/PosePal album.

7. Children

PosePal is a camera app for photographing people and is not designed for children. Reference content is curated for adults (18+). Do not use the app to photograph children in ways that violate applicable law; custom-pose imports stay on your device and are your responsibility.

8. Security

With no server and no transmission, the attack surface is your device itself: files live in the app-private sandbox (other apps cannot read them) except the album you chose to create via the gallery mirror. Protect your device with a screen lock.

9. Changes

Material changes will be published on this page with a new effective date and noted in the app’s release notes. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
